Mix IT UP

I have to confess it's been well over a year now since I made a new leash set for my four legged son Oscar. So as I sat pondering what fabric I was going to use, my six year old son came into my studio (okay it's more of an over glorified guest bedroom, not to mention the only room in the house that is sort of girly), and said hey mom can we do this leash with that collar. I turned around to him holding up this polka dot fabric that matched to a T the collar fabric (in stripe) that I was making. Heck yeah son...way to mix it up. So the moral of the story...if there is one... is that it is OKAY to mix and match your leash and collar,  and it a fun way to give your fur child a unique personality.

Oh the smell of fabric...

Is in the air here at my home based studio. Yup, we survived the holidays and now it's time to make a few changes. I have been eyeballing a few really cool new fabric prints, and just today I added 6 new collars to my site. So you can imagine how thrilled I was when I opened up the mailbox this afternoon, and there it was, the package I have been waiting for. I mean really who needs a leg lamp (of course I think that would be the coolest gift ever) when today I recieved more new fabrics. OMG, I cannot begin to tell you how excited I was when I ran into the house, opened up that oversized stuffed enveloped and saw this.....

AHHHHHHH...that's all I had to say. Oscar my fur champanion is going to look super cute in the blue Dr. Suess print on the bottom. I do have the best job :0).

Congrats to BAILEY...this months Pup Of The Month

Congrats to BAILEY for being this months Pup of the Month at Sugar Plum Collars. The pup organization that Bailey and his parents would like to donate a Sugar Plum Collar to in his name is
YAPs (Yucaipa Animal Placement Society)

It’s a fantastic Rescue with a really neat history.... If you get a chance please check it out :0).
Baileys mom Dana told us a little bit about her fur child “Bailey, a JRT mix came to us as a pup from the streets, almost 6 years ago. He is by far one of the smartest dogs we've ever had. We've had to resort to spelling words out or using another language for words such as WALK, READY, Ice cream, Cookies etc, but he has figured those out too. His all time favorite is bananas and he wont hesitate to steal it right from your hands when you're not looking. We've just added another lil' terrier to our family and the 2 of them spend all evening wrestling and filling our hearts.” child “Charlie is a 5 year old shih Tzu, he is the dominant dog in the house of 2 other dogs including another Shih tzu and an 80 pound boxer and he is proud to show it. Charlie is a very special dog, he suffers back problems and receives acupuncture as needed. Its amazing to me when he doesn't feel well, he lets you know, he has a way of showing his expression as you can see from his picture.

Thank you Sugar plum collars for making the coolest collars around, everyone always loves my black & white vans collar!!”Bailey is super cute, and we are excited to add him to our Sugar Plum Collars pup of the month club. Congrats again Bailey and Dana!!!!

FRIENDS HELPING FRIENDS

Truly in my life there are many things that do not surprise me....that was until last week when I an the chance to be apart of something so wonderful. It all started late on Thursday night when I was facebooking...yes, I dooo love FACEBOOK! I saw a message via another friend about a poor pup in need of some funds for a surgery his owner was unable to afford for him, due to the owner having cancer and not being able to afford his own meds. So, with the help of many other facebook friends near and far, and the generosity of call in donations we were able to raise more then $700.00 in less then 24 hours for Foxs much needed surgery. I have to applaud the team at Harrison Memorial Animal Hospital in Denver, Colorado for first off their caring nature, as well as their professionalism. Fox had his surgery on Monday to remove his back leg due to an infection. The operation was a great success, and Foxs owner was taken back by the amount of support he had received. This was truly a touching story, and once again something I am so happy to have been part of. Thank you all again for giving Fox such a happy ending!

Putting A Little Style Into Your Pups Life

Welcome to Sugar Plum Collars, where the pups come first! Our handcrafted collars are designed with your pups style, personality, and comfort in mind. Each collar is made to order, so we know you will be satisfied with not only the craftsmanship, but the final product as well.

Sugar Plum Collars website was born in January 2009 after months of research done by me and testing done by our loyal fur child Oscar, our 80 pound American Bulldog. I must say creating a name for our business was a little harder then I first thought. We wanted something that was not only unique, but as fun as the designs we were putting out there, and found that the name Sugar Plum did just that.

Our collars have traveled across the globe, and into a handful of retail stores throughout the United States. Our mission is to produce something that is as unique as the pup wearing it. We are thankful to have worked with some of the most wonderful parents and their fur kids as well, and have had a great opportunity to hear some fantastic stories on adoptions, rescues and births from many of these proud parents.

We would like to thank you all for the loyal support and awesome feedback on our products, and look forward to continued growing relationships with our pet parents and their fur child.

A Little About Me :0)

Hi All, My name is Christine. I currently live in Oregon, Wisconsin but my hometown is California in the Bay Area. I moved to Wisconsin about 7 years ago after getting married to my high school sweetheart. I have 3 wonderful little boys who keep my days as busy as ever. Devin is 5 years old and our little spitfire. He has a crazy imagination and is so independent. He is the best kid to hang around because of his love of life. Our twins Jack and Luke are 2 years old and just as sweet as can be. They both have such different personalities. Luke is my little snuggle bug and loves being held, Jack is going to be the comedian. He loves to growl like a little tiger and crawl around poking fun at anything he can. I decided to open my own Etsy shop after many months of planning. I dont do it for any other reason then just having a little something to do for myself on the side. People dont get how I can have so much time on my hands...what I have to say to them is "if there is a minute worth living why not make it count". I have a great family, a wonderful life and just about everything I need in this stage of life.
